It's a bizarre question to ask especially on a website like Newgrounds, but does anybody know if FireAlpaca contains BitTorrent?
What is FireAlpaca? - FireAlpaca is a free painting software available in 10 languages and compatible with both Mac and Windows. Amazing artists such as BleedingPervert and moawling use FireAlpaca to create wonderful artwork and animations.
What is a torrent file? - In the BitTorrent file distribution system, a torrent file is a computer file that contains metadata about files and folders for distribution, and usually a list of trackers, which are computers that help participants in the system find each other and form efficient distribution groups called swarms ("Torrent file" Wikipedia.org, 2019). Basically, torrent files create countless unwanted files that fill the PC devices until they run out of space.
Unsuccessful Research - Hearing that FireAlpaca makes a free alternative to Photoshop, I surfed the web to find a way to download the program without including BitTorrent. I watched almost every video I could find on YouTube to find out what happened after the instructor downloaded the program. After they downloaded FireAlpaca in the video, the app did not show instructions before the official download. Then I resorted to finding the FAQ in the website and the unofficial Everything FireAlpaca blog. Unfortunately, I could not find any questions discussing BitTorrent. I tried asking Everything FireAlpaca, but I could not find the asking box. I tried logging in to my Tumblr account to see if the ask box showed up, but to no avail.
Alternatives - When I bought and installed Autodesk Sketchbook Pro 6, the software gave me instructions and managed to install it without using torrent. In 2017, GIMP 2.8 had a downloading option without torrent and I happily accepted the offer. Torrent-free GIMP 2.8 takes a while to load, but it's worth saving storage.
FireAlpaca seems like an interesting alternative to Photoshop, but the owners should clearly inform potential consumers if their program contains BitTorrent. I avoid installing apps with BitTorrent because I don't like unwanted cookies overfilling my storage. If you're not sure about installing FireAlpaca and you don't want to install BitTorrent, then I recommend finding another free painting software like GIMP.
